Support to preparation of a country profile and operational planning to support renewable energy (RE) integration with Armenia’s existing power market
April to July 2025
The Sustainable Energy for Climate Resilient Municipal Development in Armenia (SE4Resilience) project is co-financed by the European Union and German Government, and implemented by GIZ from May 2024 to April 2027, with a total budget of €12.3 million.
The project supports rural communities in Tavush, Shirak, Gegharkunik, and Syunik by promoting renewable energy and energy efficiency in households and public buildings. Its goal is to strengthen climate resilience, reduce energy poverty, and improve energy security, while contributing to climate change mitigation and the preservation of natural resources in Armenia.
GIZ acquired services by a national consultant in order to support a team of international experts in preparation of a country profile and operational planning to support renewable energy (RE) integration with Armenia’s existing power market. The assignment included:
- Provision of sector expertise including presentation of Armenia’s renewable energy market, frameworks and legislation
- First-hand data collection during a series of meetings with market regulator, operator and other stakeholders. Compiling and reporting the collected data.
- Conducting secondary research and reporting.
