Conducting gap analysis on the existing Quality Infrastructure for solar PV in Armenia – October 2023 – February 2024
Development of a follow-up study on the need for Quality Infrastructure services for the photovoltaic sector in Armenia – September 2025 – On-going
This assignment is realized under the Physikalisch-Technische Bundesanstalt (PTB) project “Quality Standards for Increased Trade in the Eastern Partnership (EaP) Countries” and funded by the German Federal Ministry of Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ).
To strengthen the quality infrastructure (QI) in the field of Green Transformation, PTB set up the Quality Infrastructure for Green Transformation (QI4GT) Fund.
This small-scale project under the QI4GT Fund aims to introduce and apply technical standards and international best practices in QI services for the design, development, commissioning and monitoring of photovoltaic (PV) installations; it is implemented in partnership with the National Body for Standards and Metrology (NBSM) of the Republic of Armenia and Foundation to Save Energy (ESF Armenia).
Given the fast growing photovoltaic market in Armenia, in August 2025 PTB requested a follow up report in order to provide an update on the latest developments in Armenia’s photovoltaic sector including market dynamics and trends, developments in framework conditions and legislation, along with components of Quality Infrastructure, such as but not limited to standardization, market surveillance and conformity assessment.
The assignment also includes identification of key challenges and barriers in the market.
