Today was a significant day for Optimum Energy – a leading Armenian solar PV developer. After four years of hard work, they officially launched yet one of the largest solar PV projects in Armenia, with total 60 MW peak power capacity.

The complex is comprised of several small-scale PV plants in Aragatsotn province. All plants are equipped with single-axis (east-west) solar tracking systems and bi-facial solar PV modules, which will significantly increase the annual energy yield.

According to Armen Gharibyan, co-founder of Optimum Energy, they plan to combine solar power generation with agriculture, by planting shade plants underneath and in between the solar arrays (rows). Such integration – the agrivoltaics – not only improves soil quality, mitigates the effects of the climate crisis on agriculture and encourages biodiversity of flora and fauna, it also creates more job opportunities for local citizens.

The project in subject was co-financed by several local banks such as Byblos Bank Armenia CJSC, HSBC Bank & Ardshinbank CJSC. One of our experts, Njdeh Andreas, had the opportunity to provide technical expertise to the mentioned and other project(s) realized by Optimum Energy in preparation of bankable documents, including the solar resource assessment (SRA), energy yield assessment (EYA), design basis report (DBR) and business plan.
